Studies I've seen on personalities have asked people to complete a questionaire and the answeres were typed up.

The volunteers were then given a summeray of what their answers said their personality was and 90% agreed with what was said about them. It was then revealed the researchers had just ignored the questionaires and written a generic personality for everyone to show just how a like we really are or think we are.

No one is going to read a personality break down that says they are an arrogant, egotistical bully and say 'Yup, you've got me exactly!'

He said it opened up the possibility that security services could one day use the technique to analyse people.

Hopefully that'll never happen! They'd end up with a mini-prison full of KC patients :P

After I was first diagnosed 18 years ago I met several student opthalmologists conducting different research studies into the cause of KC. I remember being given a couple of personality tests to do at the time. I recall thinking at the time what the hell did half these questions have to do with my eyes.
Also having worked in mental healthcare for some years I agree with Louise; personality tests are a load of old pants. I'm surprised there still used.

Scary innit David! It's a known joke amongst psychology students and a mate of mine, a prof of psychiatry took various tests and publicly laughs about coming out with Narc PD!!
Everyone comes out with one if tested but this government is determined to push through draconian legislation based on a Home Office PD tag. We should be worried about personality and biology being spuriously linked and presented as science and then used for security, employment, healthcare and legislation.
I remember the SHO clerking me in for my 2nd transplant asking [with his hand on my knee], "Now tell me, how does your Schizophrenia affect you?" It was so tempting to reply, 'wanna a practical demonstration love?'

Instead of doing personality tests on with KC they should enquire about support and how we cope

Very scary, though I didn't know about government plans to do things like that. As I have an anti-authoritarian streak (which funnily enough has never shown up on any personality tests) I don't trust the government but thats another topic for another internet forum I'm sure.
Of course the government could regain some of my trust by offering to pay for my intacs I'm currently saving for, but thats as realistic as the results of a personality test.
And I never quite figured out how statements like 'you are the life and soul of a party; agree/disagree' could tell people how I developed KC, and as I never heard back from any of those students I guess no one else figured it out either.

Yeah they want to lock up people defined as Dangerous and Severe Personality Disordered without them committing an offence. The Lords have rejected the Mental Health Bill 3 times now but the Commons will get it through, they are determined despite all reason.

Perhaps being the life & soul of the party means you're more likely to get squiffy then rub your eyes which in turn is thought by some to increase the risk of KC! There you go!

My apologies. I don't just distrust politicians I distrust everyone. I'm paranoid. Something else the last personality test I did failed to pick up on.
Sorry couldn't resist that.
I'm going home now.
