Yeah it was good. Watching the crash was harrowing. Glad he is Ok apart from the celery thing. Doomed to eat celery for the rest of his life....Its a lesson for us all
I had a top gear experience myself this weekend when I got lost in the Pontefract Travel Lodge car park on saturday and wandered into the Bansai Japanese rally car meet. Loads of big thirsty rally cars, really looking the business and me driving around aimlessly in Kia Piccanto 1.1, wondering how to get to the petrol station.

That crash was something else! But what an amazing thrill he got from the two earlier runs - looked like real fun! I suspect the Hamster would have been well pixxed off if he hadn't managed those first!
And Jamie Oliver's drive was pretty good too! We used to eat, and in fact still do sometimes, in his parents pub as it's only a few miles away.

Missed it last night. Looking forward to the several repeats.
It will only be bearable for me to watch the hamster's crash because I know that after all that happened, he got better and was back in his old spot.
Top Gear has an odd fascination for me. My wife drives a little Corsa, and to be honest, we neither neeed nor want anything else, but it is still oddly interesting for a 'cardigan and slippers' motorist to see the high octane beasts that roar around the circuit with the stig at the wheel.

I watched the Hamster's drive and like you Pat was happy to see the pleasure he got from the first two drives. I'm really pleased he's okay and has made such an amazingly quick recovery that he is able to be back with the team.
Did anyone else see the piece in the Telegraph this morning where the owner of the jet car has said that Richard was to blame for the crash because he continued driving with a deflated tyre?! Watching that video he didn't have time to notice if he got a puncture.

I think the argument would also be that the Jet car owner was there each time the engine was started so had a duty of care to ensure everything was suitable for another run.
However if you are on a public road and borrow a car, it is the drivers responsibility to ensure it is good working order and everything is in place to comply with the law.
This occured on private property so i do not know what the legal position would be. You would expect something to be in writting about using such a car. I know for the car show I do at Santa Pod we use their jet car for demonstrations. It is written in the contrxct though that Santa Pod provide the car and all the required safety that goes with it and they run the Run what You Brung event and have their own liability insurance in place. This then goes through a solicitor before any contract is signed!
That is partly why a 1 day car show I put on costs £6000 for the basics and is open to the public for about 6 hours!
