When my SAAB cought fir, it was not coverd by insurance because it was caused by mechanical failure!

Michael checked this out and the insurers were behaving just like anyother!

Now if the fire were due to anything else or I let the car burn so the cause could not be identified I would have been fine.

Damn the lightning fast refexes I have!

Gareth what i actually said was that the area damaged by fire was covered but the actual part which failed mechanically was not.
So if say some wiring failed the wiring would not be covered but the damage caused by the ensuing fire was covered.
I think because you put the fire out so quickly there was actually no fire damage.

I am definitely out of the insurance game. Now involved with natural health and nutrition products, predominantly Aloe Vera.
However I like to keep my insurance brain ticking over from time to time.
You do all have such exciting lives. Apart from the odd bang here and there, never my fault, the only real excitement I have had was spinning my car around 360 degrees on ice

You know what Michael, now I have checked what you wrote orriginaly you are correct.

Yeah my problem was that the extinguisher foam cleaned off when I washed the car and my quick actions meant there was no smoke or fire damage. You could barely tell the air con compressor had cought fire.
