We're really sorry about this, but we are currently seeing over 100 spammers register on the forum every day and make inappropriate posts; and we are spending far too much time having to deal with them.
I hope to be able to make registration open again soon, once I have strengthened the forum's defences. Of course, being a forum serving a vision-challenged community I can't just make the CAPTCHA pictures harder to read - the spambots will get in eventually, but the risk is that the KCers won't!
In the meantime, if you do need to register, please send me an email and I'll register you manually. (I'm not putting the link here or the spambots will find it, but my address is elsewhere on the site... the obvious clue is that you can get hold of me, the webmaster; and at the same domain as the web site (minus the www).)
All the best,
John

Re: Registering to post on this forum
Can you not include one of those question options on registration MOST other forums use ie "what is 2 + 5" just impliment it on the registration page, on forums I have run in the past it has rapidly and drastically reduced the spammers x
May09 Diagnosed with KC, March 2010 after a failed transplant it has left me legally blind a long cane user (since 2010) who is blind in a once sighted world

Thanks for the helpful CAPTCHA suggestion, Space_cadet.
In fact we had EXACTLY that system in place before we were completely overrun with spam.
Unfortunately, the spammers are incredibly sophisticated these days, and have pretty much infinite computing power (a.k.a. the human brain). It works like this. They try and register on a forum, and come up with a question, or a picture to decode, or some other CAPTCHA. They then capture that, and present that to a real human who is surfing for free porn. The human then solves the problem, and the spammers use their input to bypass our attempts at spam prevention.
I do have another card to play, and am working on that one now.,,

Hi Anya and welcome!
You've successfully registered on our forums. The non-KC Chit-Chat forum is where people can chat about things other than KC. And if you'd like to post about your experience of KC, all you need to do is to create a new post on the Discussion Forum (or reply to a post that's already there). Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Lesley and welcome!
You are now registered so you can post on any of the forums. The one that's most used by people is the General Discussion forum so post away!
