How to ... cut a pineapple!!!

Postby Sweet » Mon 24 Apr 2006 3:06 pm

Hehe!! You know the net is fantastic isn't it!?!! I recently bought a pineapple lol, why? Because i really like them and they have been looking at me everytime i go to my local Tesco, just begging me to take them home and cut them into little chunks!! LOL!! Oh go away tinned fruit i thought, let's be adventurous and pretend we are in the Carribean!!! 8)

Hehe so was lost! LOL!! The same thing happened when i bought a mango and was upset to find that most of it is a seed! But i still love it, and then i brought home an avocado but didn't really know what the hell to do with that either!!! LOL!!! That was pretty ucky though so won't try it again!

Yes, a very sheltered life i guess but i'm exploring loads of new foods, and not being one to cook am slowly learning!!

So here i am ... with the said pineapple! Am looking at it and thought ok fine, after talking to my flatmates and getting some of the general idea i'll look it up here! And WOW, loads of information!! LOL!!

So here i am, knife in hand, hehe be careful! Am going to go and dissect My Prinkly and make a pineapple boat!  Hehe, for those who have as little knowledge as i did it's the same as a banana boat but obviously with some other fruit!

Ok ... here i go, will report back later, hopefully if i don't manage to chop my fingers off!!!!!!!!

Just cut it any which way, reassemble in some semblance of a boat shape.

Any complaints wave the knife in a threatening manner and they will agree.

If Knife out of range describe it as modern experssionist art and then apply for a lottery grant.

Before you buy a pineapple you should give one of the leaves (at the top) a little tug. If it stays put the fruit is not ripe. if it comes away easily, the fruit is ready to eat.

I like to cut them in quarters, run a sharp knife down the apex of each wedge to remove the woody "core" and then grill the flesh so that it is caramalized in lovely stripes.

Serve with ice cream and raspberry puré. :D

Hhmm Andrew i read this along with checking the colour etc but a lot more sites said that none of these tests are true and that you can't really be sure. :?: Who knows!
