WOW! Does your brain ever just get to over loaded. These days well for the past 4 months i have still been awake at 3/4am getting up at 8am sometimes don't sleep at all. But i still seem to function ok People always did say i was from another planet.

I have been learning more web design skills decided to do a quick refresher course on HTML and then xHTML and dHTML. (YAWNS) and i have to say boring it was. But i did enjoy it, which must sound weird as said its boring.

I am also studying for an MCP which is easier said than done. However i do manage to cram it all in and its good. My aim is MCSE! I can't wait for the day which im sure will be in just over a years time.

I now also have my holiday planned to Australia, first holiday in 11 years so i can't wait. Staying with family so that saves a bit. I plan to have a good holiday and big time! Good thing is i will still be able to come online in AUZ upload a few pix for you all and let you know how im doing (WWW ) This is planned for September/October time just in time for AUZ Spring.

I have also been sorting my new job out, you may remember hearing how supportive my boss to be was. I have to admit we had a few words when the contract of employment arrived via the post, the salary had dropped lots since the phone conversation. We did manage to sort it all out though and came to a great compromise.

So it has been a busy few weeks. I see many more to come.

Blow Spring, it is Grandfinals time. Seriously huge around here. Just out of interest where are you visiting?

Port Macquarie, which is where some of my family live. Not too far from Sydney. I plan to fly in to Sydney and then catch a train down to Port Macquarie as i don't want people driving all the way to Sydney to fetch me.

It is amazing the difference that some focus makes, but do not expect o be able to go on forever buring the candle at both ends. when you hit middle age the statute of limitations has already run out on late nights and little sleep !

just dont be a Paper MCSE.....and PLEASE dont rely on the braindumps alone!...its one thing using the brain dumps; but I tell you its another thing actually knowing how to do things CORRECTLY in the world of Microsoft and .Net!

i wouldnt be a paper MCSE there really is no point. Yes i get the MCSE and i also get fired because i cannot complete a task.

You are right (both of you! )

Aualifications are a starting point. this is true of any sort of qualification: MbChB, PhD, whatever. They attest to a level of competence at handling and deploying knowledge and understanding, but they do not do the job. the individual has to do that, and our capacity grows with experience by which we build upon the paper qualifications we carry.

thats good to hear JB...how are you doing your mcp's?...I assume you are going the developmenet route; as opposed to design and support?

I will admit to being more than slightly suspicious about any industry "qualification" that is specified, administered and examined by a single company... and the qualification is based on that same company's products.

Admittedly, these exams are known to be tough; but to my mind, what's the point (other than for personal self-development)?

It's not just Microsoft on this bandwagon now, but they started the ball rolling a few years ago. All they're after is for people to only know their own products, so you'll buy more of their products - and you'll have paid them to brainwash you too!

No employer who knows what they're doing would hire someone on the basis of such a qualification... and I wouldn't want to work for those employers who do.

Of course, given two equal candidates, I'd pick the one with the qualification, but only in the same manner as a degree proves you have the ability to learn.
