Although the board stood up quite well under the heavy load, we do have to remember that bandwidth isn't free, and I'm paying for it.
Well, actually, I'm not, but only because I have spare capacity and the KC site uses up the bandwidth that I've already paid for and was not using.
However, yesterday's logs showed us using three times the normal bandwidth... whilst a single such day wouldn't put the site at risk (of being moved to a slower, less reliable server, but one we are not charged for) a regular event of mass IMing it isn't.

Please feel free to use the board as intended; as long as we're not too silly, all will be fine.
Oh yes, Jay spotted the forum going down for a couple of minutes earlier... he wrongly surmised that was so that I could take a backup... I was also installing a mod which will ensure that posts to the chit-chat area are not counted!
