Well, speaking of idiots... (and spark plugs)

I managed to buy a car with a V6 engine. However, under the large bonnet there is no room at all. Everything has been shoehorned in.

As I understand it, to change the rear spark plugs, one must first drop the engine from the car!

Can anyone therefore guess the car?

Is it a BMW 5-Series 530I?

or

VAUXHALL VECTRA V6

I'm thinking it can't be a Cadilac or a Volkswagen Passat GLX . I think I go for the Vauxhall.

Oh darn! I didn't think of the bently. John, put us out of our misery, who designs cars so carefully that you can only change the spark plugs by removing the engine?

Is this just to discourage people going to Gareth to have their garage work done?

I think that keeping Gareth out of a job was a considering factor.

No-one's got the company yet, but when the car was designed, the company was owned by BMW...

I think it might just be the MG Rover ZT 190 V6?

With a design feature like that, how did they go bust?

Well, Andrew gets the prize. He's close enough to end the competition - well done!

It's actually a Rover 75 2.0 V6. When I queried the cost of the 3rd year servicing - I was gently reminded that "we did have to take the engine out, sir!".

Apart from that, it's a really nice car :-)

Edit: Just a thought, but I seem to remember that particular MG ZT is odd because you DON'T have to take the engine out... as it's rear-wheel drive, so the engine is mounted longitudinally, rather than transverse,
