I watched a programme on bbc3 on it the other night and have decided to give it a go. 500 calories a day, no sweat! im hopelessly addicted to pain killers now anyway. my wife refuses to join me in my quest, but is five months pregnant so maybe not such a good idea.Seriously though, this has to be banned my the agencys like in Madrid where size zero is banned from the catwalk.

I watched that super-skinny me thing last night. Really good documentary. The lady who did the experiment (Dawn) was extremely brave and really exposed the horrible side of the fashion world and the damage it is doing. She was also very funny and I thought very attractive with or without the weight-loss.
She proved for me that 500 cals a day is very dangerous. Many of these models will not live to a ripe old age, they are deliberately enforcing lifestyles that people in other countries have no choice but to endure.
Its a very very .......mad world.

Saw the louise Rednap thing and what got me the guy telleing her what to eat had a bit of a belly on him and when she spoke to a guy from a modeling agency he was a fat bloke!
What gives the fatties the right to tell a thin woman she needs to slim down. Think it is they who need treatment, because they are probably unhappy with their size they make others suffer.
I'm 11 stone now, but it was surprising to me how light she was and how ill she looked. In 2004 I was down at 7 1/2 stone but that was a phsyical problem rather than psychological.
Something needs to be done and the media needs to take responsibility too.

I watched that programme last night too. Louise looked awful at size zero - and my hubby thought she could do with being a size 10 normally! (Mind you I did warn him that if he said he liked women at size zero, he would be kicked out the front door so damn fast!!)
Gareth - you have made an interesting point about the "fat" guys in the programme - does anyone know what size Male models are expected to be?

I saw that programme too. I was so sad to see the agonies that women will put themselves through for the sake of getting into a dress that is too small. I agree about the plump men, but the real culprit is the designer who makes clothes that a seven-year-old could wear and expects adult models to starve themselves until they fit.
It is an upside down world.

I saw it too and thought it was a great programme, really down to earth and accessible.
All the more powerful because she started off as thin and to get thinner was painful for her, whereas on the other prog the woman started out at size 12 what would be viewed as fat by todays standards.
The doc was good, the facts spoke for themselves but as for Barry Bootcamp, boy I want to do cruel and unsual things to him or just take out a contract!! He admired her low BMI and ignored her fatigue and the irony of the fat-git designers and fashion show hosts sitting there stuffing their faces with chips whilst expecting the models to look like 8 yr olds.
It was a good expose and we need more of this.
Problem is, if you look at online forums which teens frequent they see nothing wrong with size zero, and believe young women really are naturally this size [or kid themselves more like].
I thought Louise looked dreadful in that dress, and I think the impact on fertility and bones needs to be highlighted more, actually show women crippled with osteoporosis.
