Andrew,
Yes, those were the days when the BBC were actively encouraged (they had a quota system) to get third-party producers to make things... or get a co-production deal to ease the costs.
That's what happened with the McGann movie - in order to get FOX to pay for half, they wanted so much control the programme (program?) almost became too American, and although the UK audience loved it, the crucial US audience didn't (they like WHO because of it's British charm, and this had none), so FOX didn't pick up their option to make a proper series.
We were then stuck in limbo for a few years until the FOX co-production rights expired, and then the Beeb decided that they could make it in-house again.
Confess your sins!

I quite liked McGann as well, but I was relieved when Christopher Ecclestone took up the role, I am not sure that the McGann Doctor had any more to give.
David (Mcdonald) Tennent is shaping up to be a good doctor as well, and with K9 back at the weekend everything looks like ti is getting back the way it ought to be.
I am very pleased that Michael Grade his tucked in his bib and gorged himself on a feast of humble pie, praising Dr Who

When I got bored I used to let my twin go out with my boyfriend..did make it difficult in future dates as they'd refer to things that I knew nothing about....but I think probably one of the funniest things that happened to me was taking my oldest daughter swimming...about 10 yrs ago when she was about 3...(before the days of family rooms)..so I look her into a cubical (luckily!) and got her into her costume...all was well..then I stripped off...a voice pipped up (never quiet are they at that age)..."why have you got hair on your bum?"....oh no....don't react...she'll get louder......so I just replied.."when you get older girls do get hair on their bums"....(trying to keep calm)...mmmmmm she replied......"I'll just going to stroke it"...well as you can imagine it was quite a few moments before I was able to actually come out of the cubical....my husband thought the little one had changed her mind about swimming...if only.....the next time she went in with him!!!!!!

Yup, children have a way of asking the question you least want to hear just at the moment you are lease prepared to deal with it! Never mind, I think you coped admirably.
The next most embarrasing moment after that comes when your still three year old daughter finds it necessary to share her new found wisdom in the supermarket.
People just give knowing little smiles.
