Each successive actor has a lot to help him - other characterisations to rob bits of.
In retrospect, I don't think much of Chris Eccleston's Doctor - at least not until "Dalek" - much too much the grinning idiot. David's Doctor is MUCH better, certainly on a par with Tom Baker and Peter Davison (who added that wonderful vulnerability to the role).
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that David Tennant survives the fight with the mysterious Mr. Saxon (could he be the Master, the Meddling Monk or another time lord? Or like the Valeyard, a rogue future incarnation of the Doctor himself?)

I loved the original Master [Roger Degaldo?], he had the right look about him and was really commanding. Yes I think David Tennant is the best since Tom Baker, though I did like Paul McGann when he did that one-off american production, partly cos I fancied him.

I saw last night's episode, but I had missed the week before. Sadly, I am likely to miss next week's one too.
Thankyou, auntie Beeb, for the DVD edition. I have ordered the whole series (already have disc one) so I won't be missing the gaps for long.

ps I'd have liked to see more of Paul McGann as the Doctor, but Fox let that one slip between their fingers.
