Personally on recent performances I would drop Lampard and givr Gerrard the freedom to attack, move Beckham into central midfield with him and put Lennon on the right.

Beckham's crossing and free kicks have been pretty poor so far, but hopefully his goal will kick start his performances now.

... just my thoughts

Oh well! Back to normal now!

Total dissappointment at the end!

They played really well for well over an hour with 10 men and then 3 miss penalties!!!....what a dissapointment!

Ronaldo needs a beating when he gets back! as his behavious was unacceptable to get Rooney sent off like that!!...but thats my own opinion!

Great shame.

Yes the party is over.

Now it is time for us all to rediscover our Scottish roots and pretend to care about tennis so we can support Andy Murray - unless he's gone as well!

when oh when will we learn how to take penalties  .
Bash it hard and high, not soft and low. Goalkeepers will not get near these penalties.
As for Andrew Murray, judging by the level of support Roddick was getting it is clear he has alienated a large swathe of English, dare I say British support.
Certainly my kids detest him but this is as much due to his behaviour and general demeanour as to his apparent anti Englishness.
Surely he could have worn a sweatlet with the Union Jack on his other wrist :!:
Ok, the floor is open. No abusive responses please from north of the border

I guess Beckham resigning signifies the beginning of a new era with fresh faces coming in; where these new faces will come from i know not.

I suspect Beckham jumped before he was pushed. He was never as good a captain as Shearer anyway...though I may be a tad biased :D

I would give the Captaincy to John Terry. Gerrard is awesome for Liverpool, but never seems to carry his club performances into international games, though there could be an argument that Sven's tactics (or lack thereof) stifled him.

Anyway, now we have to wait in great anticipation (!) to see what wonderous performances the team makes under Smog Monster McClaren
