I don't know how all satnav's work but with mine it works with a DVD. The DVD in my system is about 3 years old.

If I go into an area which has new roads or a rearranged road network it simply goes silent until it reaches roads known to it.

There are systems which warn you about speed cameras as well as traffic jams.

Of couse it won't be long before satellites dictate how fast we drive as well.

As you say amazing technology these days.

I wonder if I could see you bunnies on my Satnav.

I'll just pop out to the car and have a look. Back soon.

Gave Sat Nav a miss yesterday prefering to read the signs.

Uncle claus will be upset, despite getting stuck in a 10 mie que that Sat Nav would not get us out of. no turn offs you see :D

Once outside the roadworks, average speed was 130mph.

Total journey time there and back was 4 hours, 10 mins quicker than Claus.

Slowed up coming back because it was dark so only averaged 105mph. One way return journey was 1 hour 35 mins, a whole 35 minutes quicker than Uncle.

Think finally prooved turbo diesel better than a 3 litre petrol Renault Espace.

Not bad for a blind man on one of the few unrestricted autobahns left.

Oh and the car was fully loaded too :D

I far prefer to drive automatic cars! For year s my wife steadfastly refused to contemplate an automatic, so I was stuck with a manual. then Alision decided that an automatic was quite a good idea after all, so we got her an automatic, while I continued with my manual.

Then I stopped driving. Some time passed. I started driving again, my wife's second automatic. great.

My daughter moved away and no longer needed her car. I agreed to buy it from her. So, what do I drive. A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR!

Justice? I don't think so!

No justice Andrew at all!

I must admit that my preference is to drive a manual car, as I find I'm in control that little bit more.

But when I bought my current car which was a bit of a luxury, I test-drove both the auto and the manual... and the automatic was far smoother at changing gears than I was :( So I bought the automatic.

And it's great :)

Maybe it was my mistake. If I had announced to the world that I would never want to drive an automatic, perhaps I'd have had one all these years!

Much prefer the manual, Audi has a six speed box and the gearing is so short you have to change ver quickly or the negine screams. Can not see the point except people want to feel they have somethin of a race car

The only automatics I like are the one the ons with the flappy paddles that give you a choice. I always put them in manual mode but my left foot would still like a clutch.
