In truth, Sven must have been demob happy to pick Theo. If he was so good he would have figured in the Arsenal team, but he didn't even make it as a substitute. Having said that, I don't think Defoe or Bent are the answer either. Perhaps Bent should have been given a chance though.

After the defence's performance the other night, i will be delighted if we beat Ecuador.
They looked like there was no organisation at all at the back which is astonishing at this level.

I thought we would slowly improve as the tournament went on and whilst the first half was encouraging against Sweden as soon as they came under pressure one could see England visibly buckle and tire.

It's hard to see them winning the cup when there are so many better teams than them in the competition

Half time 0-0.

I say get Beckham off and put on Lennon.

I also think someone should come off to make way for Crouch, perhaps Joe Cole. I think Crouch could cause some problems with his height.

1 - 0

Another three of these score lines and England will have the world cup! I was sorry that they seemed to miss so many chances. They is no denying that they still seem to be playing below their potential.

Rooney really needs a partner up front and I think Crouch could be the man. I can't see how Lennon can be left out and if that means dropping Beckham, I would do it.
I didn't think Carrick improved the team.
What has happened to Lampard. Great for Chelsea but rubbish for England.

Now now Louise!

I think your last post should have been in your "Grumpy Old Women" thread.

We boys are all behaving ourselves here, no bottles or chairs have been thrown as yet, and now you are threatening violence  .

Red card for you Louise I'm afraid. One of the better refereeing decisions made so far, I think :) .
