Hi Andrew and Michael

You wouldn't be trying to get your own back after the multi task thread ?

You would be lost without us!

Andrew,

I will know by the end of the day, but there are about three turns to get onto the Autobahn and then it is a straihgt line for about 100 miles followed by six turns to get to our destination.

Really hope it does not try and get us lost! Anyway it is supposed to be smart enough to detect where it has gone wrong (never the driver :D ) and recalculate the route to your destination.

Sat Nav was great when we went to France, got to lots of places no trouble at all. Great thing with it is if you make a wrong turning that is doesn't tel you to its ok! It recognises what you did and corrects you with a new route.

Michael

Your sat nav is only pretending to be a woman. Maybe she can multi task, but nobody told her about minor roads off the roundabout.

(Americans do not have roundabouts, and it would take too long to expalain, but it is a sort of intersection where everybody drives onto a circuit and each peels off at the appropriate moment. My difficulty in the US is with the 4-way stop!)

The only time I was in a car with Sat Nav, the owner was showing it off on his way back home - he had only had he car a few days.

He knew lots of short cuts round the traffic jams and this was where it all fell apart.

"Take the next right turn one hundred yards ahead"

"You have missed that turning, take the next left and turn around and retrace your steps."

"Yes we know that, but we can get down THIS road"

"You have missed that turning, In order to reach your destination you must take the ..."

"No no NO! we are ON the right track now, stupid woman..."

"You are now proceeding in the wrong direction.. Turn right at the approaching traffic lights..."

"Jeeezzz! We'll get back on the right road in a minute if you'll just..."

"You have now missed the turning..."

"AGGGGHHH shut UP woman!"

I was laughing so hard my lenses nearly washed out! We didn't hear anything more about "Hi tech Sat Nav"... I wonder why?

Hehe my dad and litle sister, along with his girlfriend and my little cousin have all gone to France this week and will be visiting Euro Disney! Lucky things!! My dad swears by the sat nav and says it is a huge thing because the last time he went abroad he was driving with just my little sister and they did a 900 mile trip and got back in one piece!!

My sister being 12 obviously can't drive but can read a map very well, although prefers the sat nav as she can get some peace and quiet and listen to her cds hehe!! And would it be because an older sister has taught her well how to have selective hearing where parents are concerned and how to keep up to date with the newest bands! HEHE!

NO!!! ... that had NOTHING to do with me! LOL!! It was my twin!! LMAO!!!

I travelled to glasgow this morning, and then returned in a car with Sat Nav.

Every time it told us where we were, it was right. :D

It even managed to find the hospital I was visiting, but it did not seem to know that a road had been closed for roadworks.

In town, the driver ust turned it off, but on the open road it gave plenty of notice of upcoming turns. Quite good fun, actually.

It's unfortunate when the sat nav you're using is not completely up to date though. Some medics and I were trying to locate the Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Cue friend with car that had sat nav, which cleverly told us that yes it knew 'children's hospital' without needing an address. Unfortunately it neglected to tell us that it in fact knew where the very old, now closed-down children's hospital was, and not the current one... Oops.

Oh dear!!! Just a very slight problem there! Hoping it wasn't too far away from the old one and you got there ok? So what happens about updating them then, does it just get done automatically or do you need to take them in somewhere?!
