I had always thought that the land in question at the beginning of WW2 stretched over hundreds of miles, if not thousands. Then I went to study in Salzburg and realized that Austria, Italy, Germany, Yugoslavia (there still was a Yugoslavia), Czecholsovakia ( ditto) and Switzerland are all as close together as counties in parts of the UK.

I was always deeply disappointed when they waved me through Passport control Nobody ever wanted to stamp my documenst.

You've defintely beaten me! Going from South Wales to Dublin doesn't have the same cosmopolitan ring to it!

My optician in Dublin is wonderful though! I'll make sure to add him to that list. Until recently we was on the national board of something or other but still gets all the info so is on the cutting edge of things.

Have you seen the new ad about a sausage factory? All these sausages get fitted with bog standard contact lenses.

It is hilarious - a whole production line of sausages with contacts lenses on. Obviously not KC folk...
