The weather!

Postby Pat A » Mon 23 Jul 2007 9:38 pm

First of all.....if the moderators want to move this post then that's fine by me! But I know that many members only read the general discussion forum - so that is where I have posted this!!

Having talked to my brother tonight, who lives in Gloucester I just wanted to say that my thoughts go out to any member of this forum who has been affected by the current weather and flooding. My brother hasn't been too badly affected but they are on standby tonight, expecting the worst, they have no water, and only intermittent power. They are the lucky ones - although my sis-in-law is recovering from breast cancer so life isn't a bed of roses, without the weather putting it's spoke in! And they have friends who are in despair having lost so much on the last few days. Puts some of our problems into [temporary] perspective I guess.

So again, my thoughts , and I am sure many will join me, go to those affected. The ironic thing is, they probably won't be able to use their computers and read this!

From a relatively dry East of England...........

Where I live flooded a couple of years ago and many of my friends lost everything. We had no electricity for 4 days cos our substation flooded.......not a good idea to put it by the river  There are still people not in their homes! Cowboy builders moved in and lots of people were ripped off.
They are now building flood defences and when they use the diggers my friends house shakes! Then there is bits of plaster on the window sills. She was flooded completely and now is unable to sell her house.
Its awful and the flood water is just the start of it. We then had a nasty stomach bug going round, prob from the flood water.
They have my sympathy.
