I like the simpsons. Although they are presented as a dysfunctional family, they still manage to function.
I have a friend in the United States whose (grown up) children call him "Homer", although he works in a conventional powerplant, rather than a nuclear one and his children grew older with the years, rather than stay exactly the same.
I admire Marge most; poor longsuffering wife and mother. I like Bart best; the scallywag whose mischief never really does any harm. I pity Flanders most. I recognize Maggie in many people I know; the child who can speak but who is never heard. I dislike Mr Burns and Smithers in equal measure.
But my all time favourite character is Homer; the man who tries but never gets it right but who is there for his children. Forever condemned to be the father of children trapped in time and unable to move forward through the teen years towards the integrated humanity that lies beyond.

Hehe John I was thinking the same thing!! A very deep post there Andrew!!!
I love Lisa because she is so determined to move out from the family she is stuck with but needs their support though she would argue about that one!! And of course Bart is just so dam lovable as he tries to mess up everything!!!
