The other week the BBC news website asked people to vote yes/no to the question. the resultsa on this site were 55% yes, 45% no.
I just wondered if we KCers reflect that same opinion.

I also am a fan of Star Trek. I always used to enjoy the original crew (both when produced by Desilu and then Paramount), but the production values of TNG now makes those episodes look odd.
I think that my favourite series was TNG, 'enterprise' could have been better if they had not become so obsessively focused on temporal mechanics. All that made me wonder why the other series had not made more of discoveries that were being made at the dawn of Star Fleet and even before the Federation.
I did enjoy DS9. This was a bold departure as the trek seemed to be fixed in location at the mouth of the wormhole / door of the celestial temple, although it was interesting that towards the end they lost their confidence and liberated Sisco and his crew to go 'trekking'.
I am afraid that my least favourite of the Star Trek series was Voyager, although this had many merits that would have put it up there among my favourite tv programmes even if the other star trek brands were not available.
A footnote. I was in the United States a couple of years ago and a friend gave me some Dr Pepper. I had never tasted this before, but immediately recognized the unmistakable flavour of prunes. "A warrior's drink" said I.
My friend was puzzled and perplexed. I had to explain Worf and prune juice.

Of course Scotty wasn't in the original crew and neither was Kirk. Spock was, but he was not first officer.
Majel Roddenberry, who later played Nurse Chapel, the voice of the computer and Lwaxana Troi, was the first officer to Captain Pyke in a dreadfully bad pilot from which the series nearly failed to emerge.
They later reprised the pilot when clips of it were entered as evidence in Spock's court-martial.

I think we all have that (male?) fantasy of sitting in front of a big screen like on the Enterprise, clicking buttons and ordering people around (i do that at home from my armchair while watching TV
)... and I suppose now with the Internet age we are doing it on forums like this
)
So of course you will get a lot of Trek fans voting yes here!!
