I had to skip straight to the end of this thread as we poor soles down here are only onto the second (or third) episode of the second new series (The cybermen reappear, Sarah Jane Smith was on two weeks ago) so I didn't want to spoil everything by reading it all (but it was really tempting)

I have watched DR Who for what seams like ages (I started when I was 12 I think)
I like it so much that when a kid I went in a fancy dress parade (a big thing for a small town that only watched the ABC) riding my pushy that had the TARDIS over my head and body (my arms came out the sides to steer) and K9 was on the handlebars (I'll try and dig up a pic and post it - when I find out how)

You lot are lucky buggers being able to watch it before me.

David Tennant (the present actor playing Dr Who) was a great fan of the programme as a wee boy. In those days Tom Baker played the doctor. David's father has some Super 8 footage of the young David with an improbably long scarf, big floppy hat and playing with a yoyo.

When DT got the part he received a letter of congratulations from TB.

Actually I think that he is shaping up to be one of the best Doctors ever.

Andrew,

I'm sure David wouldn't be over the moon, but there are people who'd do some very silly things to see some of that footage.

I do hope it turns up in one of the documentaries some day. How suggestible is DT's Dad?

Or how about bribery? Something like "David: tell me all the plots for series 29 or I'll release this film to the press"

David's dad is completely incorruptible: he's a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. :D

David's own name is McDonald, but he calls himself Tennant because there was another David McDonald in Equity before he joined.
