And lets not forget poor old Yates - he could have been poisoned by a discarded pasty!

Still, it is a legal requirement for the gates to be manned at all times... but as we all know, they can rarely find the decent staff at all but the very largest stations.

Here conductors used to help the disabled off and on the trams, now they have all be made redundant the general public has had to do that role. The connies were great, they were friendlay and knew the stops to get off at, also if you regularly worked shift work and used them during quiet times they knew you and would chat away and make the trip go faster.
