Hi

Still trying lens and it feels ok but vision is not. I can see two lines of writing when i read and i appear to have six children!! I phoned Moorfields today and there are no appointments before the one that i have 27/4. So fed up now.
is there anything i can do to move forward?
And is it worth me trying to get used to this lens?

How long have you tried the lens for now? As in hours?

Does the double vision occur when reading close up as well as longer distance?

iI have been wearing it about an hour. Double vision close up and distance.
now please don't think im stupid but when moorfields sent me the lens it was in the right hand side of the case(its for my left eye.) So i thought maybe they had sent me wrong lens so i have just tried it in my right eye and it is STUCK!
What should i do now? This is horrible.

Anne no worries it won't be stuck forever! Get it nice and wet so that it will slide, use some saline or boiled cooled water if you don't have any. Then carefully try to move it slightly so that the suction loosens and then take it out. I'm not sure how you have been taught to remove it but i pull the ouside corner of my eye so that my eyelids close which pushes it and then catch it in my other hand.

Hoping you manage this ok and please don't panic, it will come out!!

Dont worry Anne the lens can get stuck..and it is normal...

If the double vision still remains after the 3 hour mark than I would discontinue wearing it and walk into A&E at moorefields...your next appt is too far away and in my opinion its needs to be seen sooner......can you function without the lenses?

It is possible the brain is confused, especially if it has got used to seeing blurs. Now it sees good with one eye and poor with the other and is having trouble knowing what it should do.

If you close one eye, are you still seing double?

If not, the brain needs to adjust and seeing with one eye can take days, weeks and in some cases months to fully adjust, especially if you are only wearing lenses for a short period which is a necessity whe you first start out with lenses.

If you see double just out the eye with the lens in, I would build up the wear time, but not do too much whil it is in. Reason being, when the lens is replaced for a better fitting one (if that is what is needed), you will be able to take to te lens straight away and pretty much avoid the build up time.

I know this contradicts Jayuks post which is I must point out this is my opinion.

Confusing I know, but that is the nature of the sight when we share experiences.

I think it was my error in not being clear...when I referred to 3 hour mark I was talking about the build up to wear time...so I would suspect something like

day one - one hour
day two - one hour
day three - two hour
day four - two hour
day five - two hour
day six - 3 hour
day seven - 3 hour..etc

apologies for sounding confusing!

Not often we appear to contradict, but what you have done makes sense, if Annes brain is playing catch up to her vision, what you have done does make more sense.

This has happened to me in the past, the lens was comfortable but the vision wasn't all that good, mainly, as you mentioned, doubled.

It turned out, even thou the lens was new, my KC had progressed during the time between fitting and ordering to actually having it and wearing it - so my eyesight had changed and the new lens no longer was correcting my sight as it should have been.
So had to go back to have it corrected, didn't need a refit just altered the prescription.
