Since having six stitches removed a few weeks ago i have noticed a big change in my vision which is sadly not for the best. It is five months post graft but i could only read 6/60 and just about 6/36 with pinholes. Now i don't think i can read anything at all as i used to just about be able to make out letters here, now i can't see any of them.
Am not overly worried at present, although this is annoying when i know that some have had really good vision a few months post op. Am just hoping that when a few more stitches are removed at a MUCH later date that it will get better. Do you think that is what will happen? I have 17 stitches remaining.
Thanks, Sweet X x X

Really hard to say!....It all depends on the individual cornea and how it settles...bearing in mind you had to have the other stitches taken out alittle early; therefore I am assuming they need to settle.

As J says, your eyes have gone through a lot recently, it might just need time to settle. As you know it a balance with stich removal to keep astigmatism to a minimum and to get the curvature just right.
May be just a case of the ey re-adjusting, if memory serves, this was your worst eye which the doctors had practically given up on for some time. It might just need re-educating. What I did post gaft (and I have only just found this in my old diary) was to try and see the hidden image in these 'Magic Eye' books. You know the ones which look like a mass of colour, but if you focus past the picture and go slightly boss eyed you see a detailed 3D picture coime out of the page to you.
My eyes ached afterwards just like any muscle would after a strong work out. Perhaps this would help as you do need two eyes to see the images.
Just a wild thought that may be of use.

Hhmm i never did get the hang of those pictures but maybe that was because i have only ever had good vision with one eye! LOL! Maybe now my ambition is to get good vision in my grafted eye and be able to see what the pictures are all about!!
Are they really that good as i do wonder?! All i can see it loads of coloured lines and squiddles hehe. Tnanks for your comments am trying not to stress too much and am remembering the eye drops. Have a check up Friday so will see what happens!

That was exactly what happened to me when my first stitches came out. It was not until the last of them came out and things had a chance to settle down that I recovered sight.

Thanks for that as i was getting annoyed with the whole dam thing. I manage to see almost two lines for the first time ever in this eye and now it's gone again!! That is dam frustrating but i know that i'm not alone in this.
Just hoping that my follow up next Friday has good news as i'm getting really worried about going back to see them now.
Oh well, what i didn't have i haven't lost right? Well except for a hell of a lot of money but hey ... who's counting!!!

It does take time to settle, think in terms of months [12-18] rather than weeks. Even if the vision isn't great, it might result in a cornea that can be fitted with a lens which does offer good acuity. In my good eye, it's 6/6 with the lens but 1/36 without.
