Wearing contacts after eye infection

Hi,
I've been told I have an eye infection and been given some drops. Won't be wearing my lenses for a few days but my GP mentioned that they might need special cleaning as the bacteria may have been absorbed by the lenses and therefore the infection may re-occur. Waiting for my optom to get back to me but just wondering if anyone knows whether regular cleaning & disinfecting will kill any bacteria? I have hybrids & use crystal cleaner & opti-free on a daily basis.
Cheers,
Eye pod

As far as I was aware contact solution kills most of not all bacterias. If I remember rightly Polyquad with is in Opti-free states on the box that it kills Acanthamoeba which is a well know eye infection causer.Do you know the cause/bacteria involved in the eye infection? You could use a Peroxide based disinfecter overnight aswell. I used to use one every other day, something like AOSept or Easysept.

Thanks for the information Jacob! My optom got back to me and said my normal cleaning procedure should be fine. I don't know the cause of the infection, doctor did a telephone diagnosis! I use amiclair protein remover tablets every 2 weeks so will use that on my lenses also! Thanks again!
