Corneal graft (hopefully a DALK) on thursday.

Postby J Hoffa » Mon 11 Feb 2013 1:01 pm

Hello to all you fine people!

I´ve been away since my PRK surgery was postponed. Unfortunately, it seems there will be no PRK since the cornea is too thin. So now on to plan B, a DALK corneal graft. Starting with the worst eye (the right). I´m scheduled to do the graft on Thursday morning in Stockholm. Reading similar threads in this forum really helps keeping me a bit calmer, although it feels very surreal. I´ll post as soon as possible, with result and reflections.

Best regards,

J Hoffa

Hi there, just to add a big "good luck" ! I'm sure everything will go well for you. And yes, that period of a few days before the procedure is very disconcerting, for me it felt like it was all happening to someone else... Even when came round after the aesthetic wore off, there was a peculiar sense of "did I really just do that?".

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Chris

Hi all,
Today is surgery plus five days.
I´m very happy to write that the doctor was able to perform a dalk and on the visit to the hospital the next day she said my eye looked perfect.
I´m still very sensitive to light and I still feel the stiches but not as bad as the first three days. I spend most of the days in a dark room listening to music or audio books.
The next check up at the hospital is on friday. Now I need to rest my eye. I´ll keep you updated.

Take care,

J Hoffa

Hej

You will be sensitive to light for a while, but I am sure that things will settle down. The recovery will seem a long road, but at the end there is good sight. :D

Varje god önskan.

Good to hear it went well and take it easy, good work shouldn't be rushed.
Chad.
