Popping lenses!

Hi!
Has anyone experienced their lenses popping out

I was at a tutorial the other day and I got the feeling my eye was rapidly drying out, suddenly and with no warning my lens popped out of my eye

. Luckily my glasses stopped it shooting forward and it fell down onto my lap

It was a really strange sensation. I think the air conditioning was on in the room at the time and can only put it down to that. However, I am a bit concerned that if it happens again I might be upright and then I will lose my lens

.
My lens is a soft one - one of the new types. It is really comfortable most of the time but every so often it seems to suck all the moisture out of my eye and the only thing I can do is remove it re-moisten with lens cleaner and re-insert it! Is this usual
As you can probably tell I am fairly new to lenses and so any advise would be useful please.

I had the same problem with one of my lenses. It was because of the fit, there was too much edge lift on one side i think. You should go to your optometrist to have a look at the fit again. Your cornea may have changed slightly since you last appointment.
You may want to give refreshing eye drops such as aquify, which works for me. But if your lens is constantly drying out too much it also may be down to the fit or the lens type may not be suitable as not enough tears are getting uder the lens.
With having to take the lens out and reapply solutions to make it more comfortable is normal but having to do it frequently every few hours because the lens is drying out is not.

Thanks for that Asif

.
I am due to see my optometrist on the 7th December so hopefully can get it checked out

.
I really hope it is not the lens as having only just got a wearable lens, after loads of failed fittings, I am not eager to go back to waiting and coping without it

.
As it has only happened a couple of times I am hopeful that it was more to do with the environment being too dry

Might sound a daft suggestion, but here goes.
Instead of one of these aroma therapy burners heating oil and warming water, would this up the local humidity around your desk?
Might have calming properties if there is any residual aroma therapy oil.
Worth a thought, can not do it on my desk as we are not allowed any naked flames!
Any more restirctions on me at work and I will have to resort to crayons
Especially having spent hour and a half of a two hour meeting exchanging explosions at work stories. I think I won because I was at the source of a minor explosion a few months back

Thanks Gareth

An ingenious idea

, especially now you can get burners that are electrically heated, however as I am a student and moving from lecture room to lecture room the practicalities are questionable

. I could try this when I am working with my own computer as I often get dry eyes even with frequent blinking

.
I do hope it is only a blip in my journey to better vision.

try 1-2 drops of systane few mins before inserting your lenses and then refreshing eye drops if required during the day, it may help.

I do use systane but I have never tried it before putting the lens I'll give it a go

To help reduce dry eyes when using a pc, I have a timer set for 30 minutes, after which time I get up for fresh air and give my eyes 5 minutes rest.
Using Uni computers might mean you loose a place for the computer. However since I left Uni 15 years ago, every student has a pc, most near where I work in Loughbrough have lap tops!

My corneal lenses were always popping out so in the end I invested in two pairs of glasses with plain lenses, a clear pair and a pair of sunglasses, people found it quite amusing when I told them their only purpose was to catch my contacts when they fell out! It was also cheaper than having to keep buying replacement lenses all the time.
Keep smiling.
