My CXL is done

Hello all

My Femto pocket CXL was done on Monday of this week.

All seems well so far. David Jory who did the surgery was very pleased with his work, saying how neat the cut was. It had virtually healed by 9am the next morning.

First few minutes of the procedure where very uncomfortable with a auction ring placed on my eye and the lazer glass pressing down on it. It was soon over though and we where chatting away while drops of riboflavin where applied and the uv light gently shining away.

Within a minute or two of finishing my sight was somewhere around the same as before the procedure and it hasn't really changed yet. Apart from a little 'hazing'. David did say he didn't want to give me false hopes or promises but a chap in worse condition than me pre op had at his 12 month check up gone from 6/12 to 6/24. Not entirely sure what that means but it sounded positive.....

So. Off for my kerasoft iC fitting on Monday and fingers crossed we will get some reasonable vision.

Will keep you posted

Nick

Thanks for the update Nick, hope everything goes okay from here on in. Do let us know how you get on with the lenses if you can.

Best wishes

Chris

Hi Nick,

Here's wishing you a fast an safe recovery.

As far as the potential for vision improvement from CXL goes, if it were to happen does it happen in the first 6 months or they furstv12 months?

I think it's anytime as everyone is different.

We are of course talking best corrected vision and as I have such a bad astigmatism, even though my kerataconus is mild to mid if I didn't do anything about it now I would have such poor vision if it progressed any further I would be buggered to use the technical term!

As I say the main factor is that everyone is different so you can't put a time or even an average improvement on things.

Hello again all

No contact lens news as yet.

I saw Lynn on Monday and there is still too much blood and inflammation from where the blood vessel burst during the cxl.

I can see its getting better by the day so shouldn't be too long.

I have a lens with no power in it which is improving my glasses. Hopefully by end of next week I may be there.

Fingers ties and everything else crossed!

Hi Nick,

Congrats on everything going well so far. :D

Where did you go for this? Was it private?

Cheers,
Andrew

Hello all

Been to see Lynn again today and vision is significantly improved from last time!

When my lens arrives that has been ordered I will be driving again which is a big bonus for me!

She said progress was very good from only 10 days ago so chuffed with that!

Swelling and bloodshot virtually disappeared now too and no scar from the procedure :D

Will update again when the lens arrives

All the best to everyone for Christmas and me year

Nick
