Scleral Lenses

Postby alexclark » Sun 04 Nov 2012 8:39 pm

Hi,

First Post.

I have pellucid marginal degeneration in my right eye and am considering trying Scelerel Lenses.

Has anyone tried them, did they work and would you recommend any particular practitioner.

The name Ken Pullan has been mentioned, any one used his services.

thanks

alex

Alex

I had my sclera's prescribed and dispensed by the hospital clinic I visit. They sourced the lenses from Ken Pullam's company.

The scleral is my all time favourite lens. :)

Andrew,

Thanks for the reply.

I am not sure why the consultant at my Local Eye Hospital never mentioned trying scleral contact lenses and I have written to him for an explanation, I intend unless I receive a very good reason to pursue this option.

I have had scleral lenses for my pellucid marginal degeneration. They proved to be quite uncomfortable for me but the vision was good. I had to stop wearing them but it could have been a fitment issue that I never sought to have resolved because my lenses are made out of country.

Hi Alex,
Scleral lenses often work well for PMD but by no means all hospital eye clinics in the UK have specialists trained in fitting them. If your hospital doesn't provide sclerals, they should be able to refer you to a different hospital that does. Good luck!
Anne
