Hello all and especially those who contacted me to find out how it went. Sorry I have not been in touch till now I have been busy searching for a job and have not felt too much like spending much more time on the computer.
The intacts surgically went very well, feel reassured about the local op it was not as bad as expected the bit he said would be painful was not really too bad and it was just a little disconcerting, but I thought of lots of lovely places and people and this helped.
Vision is sadly not imporved..a few days post op it was in fact slightly worse..or if not worse so much as different, but I do get light reflected off the rings which is rather disconcerting and im still getting used to this. However, I do have uncommonly large pupils and this is part of the problems as they go beyond the place where the intacts are inserted and so I can see them in my field of vision at certain angles.
I return on the 22nd of Nov hopefully by then the vision will have imporved as there was more than one baffled to doc who could not understand why surgically it looked fine and had gone well, but had not done anything for the vision. Hopefully in a month we will be able to fit a contact lens as thats the real aim I suppose. If it does not improve then im seriously considering asking them to take it out again as the rings are driving me slightly mad! still I will give it some time!
Any questions?,,,i will try and come on line again soon and answer! sorry im not spending time checking sorry for sloppy typing!

I am glad it went well for you Sophie,
Such a shame it has not made much difference to your sight maybe it will help with your contacts wear!
Its nice to get some feedback on Intacs, i am still in two minds whether to go ahead and have my Intacs fitted on the 16th.
Has anyone else had any experiances?

From what I know, and as I understand it, the cornea will take about 6-12 weeks to fully stabilise; and its usual for the changes to occur over this time.
Whilst, this may not make a difference in some cases; its worth knowing this.

Thanks for the support
,
6-12 weeks to stabilise, that gives me hope, suppose I was possibly being a little down on the old intacts, I think poss the vision is slightly better than it was now, but still not great. Jay-do you know when they are willing to try and fit contacts? Im going back about a month after the op and I would like to get some fitted then, especially as Im not living back down south and not near sheffield, i would like to get them fitted then.
Thanks
Soph

As far as I know, they generally fit them about 6 weeks+ after the procedure.....but changes are seen upto 3 months.......so you may need lens changes during that period...all depends on the individual cornea....however Id ask for them to take a Topography of the eye to be honest as thats the ONLY way they/you can see the results.....then looking threw a slit-lamp and observing changes may not be the best way here.........
