Contacts for the first time

Postby Rich Rowley » Thu 18 Mar 2004 4:57 pm

Hello everyone....

I'm 34 and been dignosed with KC for about 2 months...

I now have been fitted with my first set of Rose K's and am currently on day 7.

The strangest thing happened today....for no reason my left lens relocated itself to the top of my eyball...I recentered it.

Ten minutes later the lens just pops out of my eye!

I have spoken to the secretary of my consultant and aparrently this is common for lens wearers with KC.

I was then told that you are unable to get insurance on this type of lens and I would need to order a new lens at full price if I were to loose one.

This all seems very daunting. KC is a clinical condition, but it seems not only do I need to pay for lenses and cleaning solution each month...for the rest of my life. Are the any schemes I am not being told about?
Is the lens a bad fit or is this a common occurence?

I am sure it would be different through the NHS if I needed a false leg!

Maybe I am just confused.

Can any one help me with a few experienced words of advice.....

btw..I have found a good internet site for reasonably priced solutions..

B&L Elite at £25 for 3 months supply..

Rich
