Hi there!

My name is Stephanie, i'm 31 and residing in the SW London region.

I'm very pleased to come across this website. I can honestly say i've never met anyone else with Keratoconus, so i'd love to be in touch with other sufferers around London, for friendship and mutual support. I'd be happy to meet up for a drink and a natter, chat on the phone, or just exchange emails - whichever you prefer :) I'd also be interested in joining a local (London based) group.

More about me - well, i've had KC since I was 15. Had a corneal graft in my right eye when I was 21. Touch wood, it's been successful - although I can only see with the aid of a hard contact lens. I'm informed I need the same procedure in my left eye in the near future (possibly next year).

I also suffer from several allergies, often making lens wear quite difficult - which can sometimes affect and impair my work/life.

However, despite this, I try and remain positive, and live life (as much as poss) to the full. I have lots of interests and hobbies.

Please do get in touch at; ms_nuttysquirrel@yahoo.co.uk

Take care,
Steph :)

Hello Stephanie

Welcome to the forum.

This KC seems to be a funny thing not a lot of people seem to know about it and you never seem to come into contact with anyone who has it, well I haven't so far.

Hope you find a contact local to your home.

best wishes

Susan

Many thanks for your reply Susan! You're absolutely right. I'm told KC is a pretty rare condition. In fact, when I go for my hospital check-ups, medical students always seem fascinated by my eyes

Also, thank you to everyone who has emailed me. I'm getting round to responding to you all personally....Your experiences are so similar to my own

Take care,
Stephanie. :)
