My Mam has myopia dn needs new glasses every two years as myopia gets worse with age

I am myopic ..I rekon even if I didn't have KC I'd need glasses anyway

I am going to get my remainign stiches out in 4 months time and then get stronger glasses when vision drops for final refraction...

assuming I have no problems with rejection, cataract , glaucoma or KC reacurrence will I need to get stronger glasses every two years?

Will you have to get glasses every two years?

Impossible to answer. Once all my stitches came out, my sight level did not change. Pre-graft and pre-KC I was slightly myopic but never needed glasses. The graft left me slightly long sighted so the effect was myopia was cancelled out for about 5 years! I am now slightly myopic 16+ years post graft.

As for KC returning, the chances are sooooooo slim just forget about it and enjoy the sight you do have.

I would rather stay being relativly unique in the world of KC and on this board in having KC come back, but it is one eye and did take 16 years. Been to the confrence and on this board and have yet to meet someone like me.

Good luck for when the final stitches come out and if you need glases, depending what you go for they are cheaper than lens solutions for a year.

well interesting your longsightness from the graft cancelled out your natural myopia

KC reaccurence is rare and very contreversial lol....

you ssem to be doing well with your graft...Glasses do work out cheaper than the contacts

In the past, a graft has been sold by some specialists as a cure for KC. I prefer to think of it as a long term form of management and that 99% of all cases requiring further correction by glasses or contact lenses is a result of the operation rather than a re-occurance of KC.

It is contraversial as it is not easy to spot anything out of the ordinary on an eye surface that has gone through the trauma of a graft.

I am just thankful that KC is one of the eye conditions that can be managed and give in most cases a good degree of sight.

yes I try to keep myself calm when I get angry about KC which to be honest is all the time...

I try to think about that KC doen't cause blindness and you just need hard contacts(and beleive I know how a harf contact nearly gave my mother a heart attack when I nearly lost my elevent'h one in tow years htrough popping out)

but for now all is well..My unoperated eye is stabilizing at -9 an my operated eye (3--3-04) is doing very well

I suppose my main concern is the future
