Rgp sometimes doesn't move

Hello to everybody,

Sometimes, when i m doing computerwork for an hour or more, my rgp (11 mm diameter) does not move anymore on my eye. It usually happens in the evening when my eye is a bit dry too. My specialist says this does not hurt the eye, but he tells me that i should blink more.
Most of the day the lens moves well. Do i take a risk though because sometimes I have to take the lens out and put 'em in again because he didn't move anymore?

Tom

Hi Tom,
Staring at a computer screen for long periods is guaranteed to dry out the eyes and cause the effect you describe. There's several things you can do. Everyone (whether they have KC or not) should be taking regular short breaks from the screen. And lots of us use a variety of eye drops to prevent the eyes and lenses from drying out - they range from simple wetting drops such as Blink Contacts or Refresh Contacts that you can get in every chemists to more 'gloopy' drops such as Clinitas Soothe or Systane that suit some people better. The trick is to put the drops in BEFORE the contact lens has stopped moving! Once it has stopped moving, then I find the only way is, as you say, to take the lens out, rewet it and reinsert it.

Thanx for your reply, it is very helpful.
I still wonder if it is a risk for your eye heath if a contactlens doesn't move for a while. Sometimes I notice this problem after an half hour or more.

Tom.

Just as a side note on this - I'd been having a lot of trouble with dry eyes and it turns out some of my tear ducts were blocked and it was suggested I try one of thos rice warming things that you put in a mircowave (but not too hot!!!) and put it over my eye for a bit as the warmth would help unblock them and it has helped me a bit.

This might not be your problem at all, but thought it worth a mention!
