Hi there Dinesh

My RoseK lasted 5+ years -- and in fact I only changed it because the prescription/fitting had drifted slightly and I got a small improvement following a minor design tweak and so a new lens. I still keep the old RoseK as a spare and will happily use it indefintely unless somthing changes. As for the material the RGP lenses are made from, it is very durable and stable even over time. What does lenses in is typically surface abrasions caused by careless handling or a really stubborn build up of protein or other biofilms from your own eye. These can usually be removed by the right cleaning product but I think there comes a point where if you have a lot of "gunk" a new lens is better. But again, regular care and maintenance of your lens should prevent things from getting too bad.

Underlying all of this is that you cannot tell what the condition of your lens is yourself. I'd try and have it checked out by an optometrist at least every 6 months if you're a Keratoconus patient. The optometrist can check for surface damage and protein build ups and will always advise you if a new lens is required -- or else confirm that you can keep your existing one without needing to change it.

But RGP lenses can last a long, long time.

Best wishes

Chris
