Can say for me - state was stopping people claiming incapacity benefit and I ended up on income support.
I must say I think was most worrying thing in my life - and thought having a cornea graft was worring - but was really shocked
to have to go through the process with the state. ( realised having cornea graft was easy to dealing with the state )
biggest shock for me was just having a cornea graft transplant and then being called to go for a medical !
Today just had horrible Employment and Support Allowance form arrive ( makes you feel like your just a number and not a human/person )
and now heading for my accessment part
very little on the form about vision.Regratably its not a very nice process. Because I been through process I know whats coming - however I do feel stronger about it this time around.
I have got say that the experience can be even more stressful than having a cornea graft transplant!

The truth of matter is state wants everyone back to work as soon as possible - so the costs to state can come down.
however If your unable to work because of vision or disablity than you should get money to live on!
The medical is tough! for me I am heading for another cornea graft down to intolerance for wearing a lens after a number of years it would not tolerate it anymore and stopped giving vision too.
I Would guess that If fail to get Employment and Support Allowance and forced into the job seekers route ( dont mind looking for work ) that just mean that pressure on my eyes health
will go down end up with a cornea graft sooner than I expect. ( thanks a lot state)

I would love to go on Tv and tell world how things trully are and how you get treated - it is a shock to the system!
only advice I can give is you will have a set time limit to return the form - go to end of time limit ( making sure gets back by the requested date )
because get more money for the three weeks period - dont do Like I did first time around send it back same day as I got the form! ( first time around )
and you are just processed at the medical so be warned! ( points system )
I think they have to give you seven days notice of the medical - and if you do end up on job seekers allowance eventally you will be left
to pick up pieces after other attempts to get you back to work by job centre plus people! and end up living in the street.
Life can be tough and I can say I am ready.........
Other interesting part is looks like the state is moving against your own GP more, as they have little impact on the state.
The state will disregard your own doctor or even your consultant! its all down to the appointed health care person who you see at
the medical appointed by atos health care.
