Hi all

Before I start I would just like to say thanks for all the advice regarding driving. DVLA and insurance know about my KC now and both are happy for me to drive.

I am booked in for my transplant on the 19th of December (day after my 43rd birthday....what a happy birthday that will be!!) and was wondering what the first couple of weeks will likely be like? Christmas will be less than a week after and I was wondering how I am likely to feel over the festive period?

Anxiety levels are rising........

Take things easy over Christmas: no bending, no straining, no lifting heavy weights (including Children). You may not notice any immediate improvement in your vision.

When everything has settled down you can go back to more ordinary activities, but for the sake of the health of your new graft, it makes sense to follow the advice you will be given by the hospital.

Definately avoid lifting and bending (and be careful with the Christmas Crackers, you don't want a cheap keyring, pencil sharpener or whatever catching you in the eye)

I personally felt pretty tired for a week or so after my transplant but hopefully you should be OK to enjoy normal Christmas festivities

Best of luck Jaimz ,I too am 43 and am having my graft on the 15th Decemebr ,so I know how your feeling regards anxiety .I guess we will just have to follow any advise given ,take plenty of rest and hope for the best !
Really hope everything goes well for you on the 19th Ian ,let us know how you get on .If I am up to it I will probably put something on here after mine .

My son is 15 and 6ft tall......couldn't lift him now never mind after the graft.
