KC and excercise

Hi there

I remember reading a while back, somewhere on here about the effects using weights and stuff, may have on the progression of KC.

I'm only small, so dont really use weights- but I do play cricket and football, and am going to join a gym later this week to get myself into shape.

So what i'm wondering, after all that, is what is it advised to avoid?

What particuarly should I avoid doing in the gym, with this condition? Im hoping to use the running machines, and swimming pool mostly- but would like to use other facilities to really get myself in shape, and help take my mind off this condition.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Liam :D

i remember posting that question .
Replies most ly stated that anything that increases intraocular pressure would be risky .. maybe someone else can clarify more...

so how are you doing now? its good to know that you have moved past c3R's and getting back in shape :( happy

Is this post-op. Because otherwise, I shouldn't think there would be restrictions. You should really speak to your doctor about this however, he/she will give you the best advice.

Immediately post-op (graft) I remember being very limited in case the stitches were compromised. For a while I also had to give up running because of the steroid doses. But after a few months, I was back to long distance running, swimming and climbing. I am not into weights but if I was, I wouldn't think there was any problem. I did give up rugby, judo and ju-jitsu but that was because I was worried about damage being done to the eye in the process, I decided it wasn't worth it, there are other pass-times.

But definately talk to your eye-doctor about this,
