UK Keratoconus Self-Help and Support Association

Hi everyone,
I'm from Italy and I have already registered to this forum some years ago for asking infos about kerasoft.
Now I'm getting a 1st level Degree in Optometry (I think I will end up in March 2012) , and my final discussion will be about aberration study with different types of contact lenses.
As most people here I have keratoconus on both eyes too, and now I'm successfully fitted with hybrid synegeyes like CL.
For my final discussion I will have to try on myself mini sclerals too. I stay well with my contacts, so I'm not evaluating mini sclerals as a solution for myself, but just for scientific interest. I will have to try a 15.5 diameter mini scleral and, I'm a bit worried about that. I have fear not to be able to remove them ... Is there someone here wearing mini sclerals that can give me some hints about manipulating them ? Is that so difficult ? How do you remove this "big hard lens" from your eyes ?

I have never worn a mini scleral, but I did have full size sclerals: putting them in and taking them out was very easy.

To insert the lens I would hold it between the thumb and forefinger of my right hand, while I held the lower lid with my left hand. I'd slip the lower edge of the lens beneath my lower lid and then lift the upper lid so that the top of the lens would slip easily under it.

To remove I'd slide my finger along the lower lid so that it pushed the lid beneath the lower edge of the lens. This would release the lens from my eye and I would simply life it off.
