Hi peeps,
I'm a newbie here.
I was dx with KC 5 years ago. Only option RGP lenses, which I couldn't tolerate. After 4 years I eventually managed to build up to 3 hours, and then my hosp optician suggested Aquasil lenses.
The Aquasil lenses were ruddy marvellous and I was wearing them for 6-8 hours a day until earlier in the year, when I had severe dry eye and bare patch on cornea.
Unfortunately I am having problems tolerating the Aquasil lens, too now.
They say I am allergic to the lens.I am also allergic to bezalkonium chloride, which means I can't use Rapitil to calm the allergy, and I can't use gel tears or many other preparation.
(Other allergies to dust mite, animal dander & hayfever)

I have been told my the optician to ask my GP for systane.
Is this avail. on prescription?

Any other suggestions?
I'd use antihists, (already use chlorphenamine aka Piriton for eczema flare ups, but only at night as I get too drowsy) but not sure about long term use.

Optician says I have "something systemic" and I need to see my GP.

Any advice much appreciated.

If you pay for your prescriptions it is slightly cheaper to buy Systane over the counter than pay the prescription charge. Also, the chemists I have tried locally don't even stock it - I had to get some from an opticians.
