Hi Paul

I can't be much help I'm afraid. The only time I have ever experienced a similar issue with the lens misting up it was a fit issue. My Optom explained to me that Air was getting under the lens allowing for the lens to mist up. I did find eye drops sort it for a little while but it would soon come back.

I had a chat with my Optom by phone and she told me to come in and see her.

hi paul i too know what you mean...i found that removing the hard lens and putting some eye drops or saline in your eye...leave it for a few seconds for the soft lens to moisten up then add a few drops of saline to the hard lens and refit...seems to work 4 me,it takes less time to do than it does to write about it..lol

I have now been piggybacking for 3 months and have recently had excellent results! My first month was spent with monthly disposable soft lenses with rose-k's on top. I managed maybe 1 hour of reasonable comfort on day 1 then increasing discomfort and ultimately intolerable pain thereafter. I was also photophobic and ready to give up normal day to day living. The soft lenses split and tore when removing and only felt comfortable on day 1 hour 1. I constantly had episodes of double vision and stabbing pain and soreness.
I went back to my cl fitter and he prescribed me daily disposable lenses. What a fantastic difference!! There was an instant improvement and after a couple of days I was able to get 10 hours pain free good vision. For the last two months this has increased to up to 14 hours daily lens wear- I only remove them to go to bed and on very rare occasions to remove a build up of mucus late in the day.

I am convinced my eyes were reacting to the monthly soft lenses and the various solutions and, in addition, the daily version is specially made to release moisture gradually all day long. My experience is that this avoids the drying out, soreness , reduced vision and photophobia that my previous lenses seemed to cause. I just use saline to insert both sets as well as a few drops of systane prior to insertion as an added precaution. I now have my life back and have been able to get a job requiring hours of computer work and poring over minute detail of ancient maps with absolutely no problems.

Maybe I am just lucky or my new ( Focus Dailies - if I dare advertise the brand! ) soft lenses can help all those of you unable to tolerate hard lenses alone.

It really is miraculous for me and I only wish others can follow in my footsteps. If you are suffering from or just tolerating lenses causing discomfort then see if your cl would let you try these soft lenses, I just hope they will turn your life around as they did for me!!!

As for waiting months and months for an appointment to see a contact lens consultant that is also intolerable. Even on the NHS here in Surrey I only have to wait about 3 to 4 weeks, less if its quite urgent. A wait of 6months is unacceptable. There must be something that can be done. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I hope my experience may help some of you and encourage others as there is always a solution out there somewhere ( fingers crossed! ) Good luck everyone..............

PS to my previous message - the reference to the delays in seeing a cl fitter relates to a topic started by Karen Sedgwick (see "New to This Site ") Sorry if this confused you!

Excellent news that the soft lens worked!. Im doing something similar now also however using the Kerasoft with a standard RGP on top....I tried the dailys however they dont make them steep enough for my KC in that eye....but yes comfort wise its difficult to get better...only other option that is similar is the Scleral.

With regards to the appointment system!..Oh boy where do we start lol!!
