I was in your position when I was about 18 and I went back to glasses it was only when my vision got that bad because they could not get glasses that were strong enough. Are you under the NHS if not maybe you can get a re-feral as there was different lenses I couldn't were. I am now wearing RGP's and seem to be getting on well with them but my vision is slowly getting worse so it may not always be like that. But stick with the treatment as there is option out there hope this help.

Hi,

What kind of contact lenses have you tried in the past and how did you start to build up the time that you used them?

I went from glasses to RGPs and when I first started with them I could put them in for 10 minutes a day, After a few days I went to 15 minutes, then 20, then 30. It took a few weeks but I eventually got up to 8, 10, or even sometimes, 14 to 16 hours at a time.

It was just a case of getting my eye used to them, actually, I think it was more about de-sensitising the inside of the eyelids so they could cope with the feeling of the edge of lenses.

I know there are other options, such as Sclerals, so these may be something to consider if you can't get on with RGPs.

All the best
Ralph

Hi Bow11,
I sent a test e-mail to check that there wasn't a typo in the newsletter. I haven't had a reply (but then I'm sure there's no-one at work at the weekend!) but the e-mail hasn't bounced back, so I'm pretty sure it's correct. Let me know if you continue to have problems getting through.
Anne
