Private Hospitals

Postby Sue Bell » Tue 28 Jun 2011 9:27 pm

Hi

Can anyone tell me which hospitals offer collagen cross-linking privately? My son is waiting for treatment at Sunderland Eye Infirmary on the NHS but this is taking forever because they are waiting for new equipment.

Hi

I've just had crosslinking in one eye (having the other one done next month) at the Centre for Sight in East Grinstead. They also have a clinic at Queen Anne Street, London. Can't remember how much the consultation was, but crosslinking is £1100 per eye. So far, I'm pleased with the advice, treatment, care, customer services, side of things. I do know that there are others clinics, but have no personal experience – there are a few members that have recently have crosslinking done so hopefully they'll post.

Best wishes.

Caroline.

I've just has CXL done at Carrick Glen Hospital in Ayr. The specialist was Sathish Srinivassan http://www.sathish-srinivasan.com/ and I would definitely recommend him
PM if you want more details (eg what it cost etc)

I had cross linking done at advanced vision care in harley street london.

Consultation was £85 and the actual procedure was £1200, and then all medication, aftercare and follow ups are included in that.
They also let you pay using interest free finance, so I payed a deposit, and then am paying £70 a month or so for 10 months.

Makes it all alot easier.

Cant reccomend them enough as theyve been fantastic.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do :)

If you can afford to go private, its definitely worth it over the nhs in my experience. Just having access to a specialist, without having to go through hurdles, or wait months and months for an appointment only to speak to a locum has been more than worth the money in my honest opinion.

Hi Caroline or anyone else that have been to see Sheraz Daya at the Centre for Sight location @ Grinstead - Did you actually get to see Mr Daya @ first consultation and/or treatment or did you see one of his colleagues? Considering options for DALK and CXL treatments at the moment and am wondering what the first consultation entails - are any tests/scans (e.g. Pentacam etc) done on the day?
