so 2 years ago today I first heard the words Keratoconus! What a difference 2 years can make, boy do I wish it was 2 years ago and I had the vision I had then compared with now, wish I knew then what I know now, but that said the wisdom and understanding I have now which I have gained in the past 2 years has enabled me to carry on to fight anotehr day, another moment to resist that itch and must rub urge.

Make the most of every moment that you can see something as you never know when those moments will go, and waht you will be left with will be a fragmentation of teh vision you once had, enjoy the ride and laugh a lot, trust me laughter has preserved my sanity in the last 2 years, without it id now be updating you from the psychatric hospital visable to some from my kitchen window.

Hi again Lea - Thanks for your help re drops. I've only been on the forum a couple of years and wish I'd known about it earlier. Until then, I'd assumed the pains and watering in my eyes were just a result of sensitivity caused by having grafts in one of them. I was told I had KC 35 years ago at the same sort of age as you! At that time, there was no information or support groups for it and the only item I could find indicated that the only end result was going blind. How wrong it was. OK - so I cope on a daily basis with watering and sore eyes but I've had two grafts in one eye plus a cataract op in it and a brilliant optician who makes lenses which somehow fit and give me good enough vision to still be working and driving and living a happy and full life. Having needed a lid lift last month (droppy lids beginning to affect my vision), at the moment I'm managing with just one of my old lenses because the other one now sticks into my lid, and the new ones haven't arrived yet but it's made me realise the meaning of the term "blind as a bat" for the lens-less eye (I can't read anything, however close I hold it) and how much my sight has deteriorated over the years ... but with contacts, this really is coped with. I shall hope that you find the same as I've done over the years. Chris x
