Need Doctor reference in Dubai

Postby Joey » Mon 07 Mar 2011 4:06 pm

Hi,

My name is Joe and from India. I am new to Dubai and to this forum as well!

I've been suffering from Keratocouns for the past 10+ years. Have done Cornea Transplant in both my eyes from a hospital back in India. Doing well now and vision is crystal clear with glasses & eye drops!

Just wanted to check if anybody can give me reference of any good Corneal Surgeons in Dubai. I would like to do a checkup every 2 or 3 months just to make sure that everything is fine.

Also my company medical insurance doesnt cover my eyes. So, I guess consultation charges are gonna make a hole in my pocket!

Looking forward to get a response.

God bless..

Rgds,

Joey

Hi Joe and welcome to the forum,
There's at least one person on this forum who lives in Dubai, so hopefully she'll be able to help you. And I do know that Moorfields (the biggest eye hospital in the UK) has a branch in Dubai now so there'll definitely be corneal surgeons there.
Great to hear that you've had such good results from your grafts.
All the best
Anne

Hi Joe

My husband is a KC patient for more than a decade now. He's using Rose K lenses as of now, but not at all comfortable with his eyes. Extremely high photosenstivity and terrible far vision. We have been thinking of getting a cornea transplant. We would love to have a chat with you and find out which doctor in India were you consulting and what are post surgery results. Request you to kindly give us your contact no / e mai id.

We too have moved to Dubai a few months back from Delhi.

Thanks.

Hello Forum members,

Hope everybody is doing great.

I have been consulting Dr. Yara Latief from Gulf Eye Center hospital, once every month for the past couple of months. They have their clinic in Fairmount hotel on Shaikh Sayed Road in Dubai, next to World Trade Centre metro station. I will highly recommend her for those looking for a good Corneal Specialist in Dubai and thier rates are reasonable as well.

My eye condition is good and stable but I will need to use eye drops for some more time. The eye drops here are very expensive and add to the fact that its not covered under your sponsor medical insurance. My friends usually get me medicine stock from India (where the cost is just a fraction), when they come back from thier vacations!

Regards,

Joe T. John
