Hi,
Did anyone here get Keratoconus after having laser corrective eye surgery? (Know as Post Lasik Ectasia)
I have worn glasses and contact lenses since I was 14, due to short sightedness. At the age of 34 I had corrective laser surgery in 2004 at Ultralase Guildford. It was considered successful and I had 20/20 vision for 3 years. I was a BIG eye rubber and noticed my eye sight was going downhill and night vision was terrible. I went to the Centre for Sight in East Grinstead and was diagnosed with Post Lasik Ectasia. (Keratoconus) I have had Cross-linking (CR-3) in both eyes. My sight has been stabilised and has not changed for 2 years now.

HI and welcome to the forum!
I hope post Lasik ectasia is getting less common now with laser clinics being better at screening out people whose corneas are thinner than normal and who therefore should not have laser treatment. It's good to hear that crosslinking has worked well for you. Mr Sheraz Daya talked at our 2007 conference and said then that crosslinking seemed to be particularly effected for laser induced KC and your experience seems to bear that out. All the best!
