Northern Ireland

Postby o0omaco0o » Wed 12 Jan 2011 5:32 pm

Hey

Is there anyone here on the forum from Northern Ireland with KC? I have just been diagnosed and would like to know what it is like in Northern Ireland with regards to services and availability of options. Although there is great information about what is available in England etc. I know it will probably be different on this side of the Irish Sea. Nothing like being prepared.

There are definately people with KC in N Ireland in the Belfast area because they came to the last KC conference in Scotland 18 months ago. Hopefully they will see your post on the website.
Alternately if you want, you could send me your e-mail address by PM and I could ask them to contact you. There is the possibility of starting a KC support group in Ireland if a few of you get together and arrange it. That is how the one in Glasgow started.

Hi

Im from Ballymena. Although originally diagnosed with KC, I've been told I have PMD which is something similar but a bit more rare (apparently)

I wear scleral lens and these are fitted at the Contact lens department at the Royal in Belfast. They are pretty good and the after service and info has been very helpful. I was referred to them after my optician sent me to an eye doctor at the Braid Valley Hospital in Ballymena about 8 years ago .

You are not alone.

This is the first i have logged in in a long time and on the next day as a post, what a hell of a coincidence. The nearest to you would be Scotland, the main group for N.I is in Scotland. It would be great if there was one in Dublin yes. Sorry i cant help you more.
