ever since i had my final stitches out a few months back in the grafted eye i get constant eye bleeding, where the white of my eye nearest the nose goes red. it mops itself up after a couple of days but the eye just feels weak for ages after that.

when the eye settles and im up and about it seems ok but as soon as i concentrate on anything like the T.V etc two blood vessel lines show up red in my eye. they do go again with fresh air but this is becoming a nightmare for me- my job is on a computer all day and i cant lose the job as i think it will be impossible to get another.

i constantly apply tear drops to my eye eyes all day but im just starting to wish i never had surgery i coped fine before all this now i feel like my life is ruined.

i know i may seem like im over-reacting but everytime i think my eye has settled to a stage where i can cope with things . bam it hits me again and bleeds.

anyone suffer with this as i feel im the only one?

surgeon has noidea and doesnt even see it as an issue.

Sorry to hear yo;ve been having this problem.
Not experienced this myself.
Two thoguths:
1. if your surgeon doesn;t seem t care, can you get a new surgeon? - ask for a second opinion?
2. How often do you blink? - could it be that you are concentrating on staring at the screen so hard yo're forgetting to blink? Can you keep thinking "blink"nd make yourself do it?

Thanks for your reply- just having a very down day- things wheer looking up but with the blood vessel bursting again its just making me think i have this for life- im thinking the guy who took the stitches out messed soemthing up as he did struggle taking them out.

i actually think my surgeon is fantastic and this has been the only issue i just think he doesnt seem to think its an issue as when i visit him the eye is clear white.

thanks for the tips though i will try and blink more and see if it helps.

thinks its more of a visual thing as a red eye knocks my confidence a bit

Redness of a grafted eye should always take you to the eye casualty department. I agree with Rosemary; if your surgeon is casual and relaxed about your concerns, maybe it's time to change surgeons. You have a perfect right to ask for a referral to another specialist's list.

i have been to two different casualty when this has heppened in the past and both said the graft looks fine i just have a burst blood vessel. and the other just siad its very dry. its happened to me 7 times now in the space of 6 months and no-one thinks its a problem as when they look at me even though the eye is pink when i see them they say the graft is fine.

its hard for me to explain it. one minute my eye is completely clear then all of a sudden all the white of one side of my eye is red like its been bleeding but then it clears up over night 90 percent better but is then pink for days after.

its really effecting me as i feel no-one can help as no-one knows whats going on.

The fact that the blood vessels and the redness are not near the graft is good news. But what's happening does sound unusual. If dryness is a contributing factor, then it might be worth trying wetting drops several times a day, especially as you're working at a PC all day. There's lots to choose from, ranging from artificial tears through to ones like Clinitas and Systane. Good luck

thanks Anne- yea i use drops all day. and gel tears too, they do help but its mainly the the eye going completely red all of a sudden thats annoying me. when it happens they eye feels week for days. i can cope with the redness i get through dry eyes its when i get the whole white of one side of the eye going completely red like i have a burst blood vessel that concerns me. i will bring it up again with my surgeon when i see him next. i wish i could explain it properly. its something i dont understand why its happening.it just wont stop.

just a though but could you take pictures (or get someone to take the pictures for you) that you can take to the consultant next time you see him to show him how your eye is each day. This may help him understand what is happening, especially if it hasnt happened on a day when you have an appointment

Taking photos sounds like a good idea.
If this is affecting your work, or risking your job, are yous tressing this at the hospital? THeu ought to take notice of things affecting one;s job prospects.
As regards A&E - yeah, there is a problem there. If you go in to the triage desk and say "I had a transplant recently and...." then all they are interested in after that is the graft. If you don;t you;re sitting in a waiting room for another 4 hours you haven't got to waste. And when they see the graft, they ask why you didn;t tell the triage people and THEN!! they;k only be interested int he graft.

PS to the above discussion:
sorr if this is a silly question, but have you been to your GP in the last - while - and had your blood pressure checked?
WOuldn;t hurt - particularl if you ever get nosebleeds too.
