Does anyone have any ideas or tips for fitting scleral lenses. I collected my 1st pair just before Christmas but no matter how many times i try I keep getting airbubbles where the saline has spilled out. Either that or the front of the lens is fogging- i cant tell which as i my vision is too blurred to look in a mirror. If i try to carefully wipe the front of the lens with the little plunger with Quattro soln on it ,I end up pulling the lens out again Argh !!

1 Clean the lens and rinse thoroughly in saline
2 fill the lens with fresh saline (I prefer to use preservative free saline)
3 Holding the brim full lens so that none of the fluid is spilling, look directly down into it.
4 Move your eye towards the lens, with your upper lid held out of the way by your other hand.
5 Slide the rim of the lens under your upper eyelid and then let go.
6 Now draw down your lower eyelid and slide the lens under it.

7 blink

All done.

I never used a little plunger to remove my scleral. I pushed my lower lid beneath the lens and then blinked, being careful to catch the lens as it was dislodged from my eye. This last bit took practice, so at first I was always careful to ensure that the lens would fall somewhere that I could easily find it if I failed to hold onto it.

I too can sympathise with Jezz, I have the same issue with the scleral lenses. I have no issues in putting them in & for the first 4/5 hours no worries but later afternoon I find the lenses have this 'fogging' steaming up affect making vision, only thing I can do is remove them & replace them, doesn't always work at first plus I find the whites of eyes go pink. as I type this it happened today but on replacing my lenses not so bad just rediness within my eye. Regards

I have a similar problem too although it doesn't happen that often at the moment. I find that trying to put up with the fogginess can do more damage than good. I'm still not sure what's causing it and it no means I have to bring a tube of saline solution with me at all times.
