Hello to everyone,

I was diagnoised Keratoconus when I was 18, I am 51 now. My twin brother also has KC but his is a lot worse than mine

I have it in both eyes but the right eye is much worse than the left.

I have never got on with hard lenses, they were always uncomfortable and glasses helped most of the time so I gave up for many years.

I have been having various trial lenses for years nothing has really worked, hard lens, soft lens, toric lens, piggy back. All have been a failure, poor vision, discomfort etc

I wear glasses for distance as my left eye is good with the glasses but the right eye is pretty rubbish. For work I don't wear anything (on/in my eyes) as my glasses are no good but the left eye is pretty good, right eye bad.

I assume other people have had similar issues with vision/comfort, is there a lens which works better?

Ideally I would just like a lens for the right eye which I can use for work and which I can use with my glasses for distance/driving

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated

Hello Peter and welcome,
The problem is that we're all different and a lens that works well for one person is useless for someone else! Having said that, I wonder how long it is since your last trials - there are constantly new developments in lenses so maybe one of the newest designs might work for you? For example one of the special soft lenses developed for KC such as Kerasoft of Soft K, or something like a semi scleral (SoClear). Or if you're one of the people that really can't tolerate any sort of lens, then maybe Intacs (corneal ring implants to flatten the cornea) might work for you?
