Hey there!

Well i made it back to London! I did drive in the end but i dont think i should have, its just i couldnt take it anymore. Honestly if i thought i would have hurt someone i wouldnt have, so i guess that says it all.

Anyway after almost two months now i still cant see well. And having left my lens out for so long it is going to take a long time to wear it again. Even with a new lens i can only see two lines, which is two less than i usually see and yes i am well aware that this is a line less then the driving requirements before anyone says!!

But ... have been told that my vision will get better, though i dont think that work are as accepting of that. And well neither am i really, but i guess i have gotten this far i need to see this through! Pun not intended! LOL!!

KC is not beating me, it controls my life enough as it is, and i am dam well driving to Scotland next month for my birthday, so it had better be listening here and get its act togther! LOL!! It has demanded enough attention in eye cas and my optometrists as it is and now it needs to stop playing games with me and let me wear a lens to see!! LOL!!

Hehe, if only talking to a condition to fix it could be that simple!!! But hey it made me feel a little better and i shouted at it enough yesterday, but was sure not to post it here.

So i guess i need to find my small change again to get the bus! And some more waiting!! Though i am wearing a lens now, and i have to say it isnt as painful as it was. LOL! I only seem to see when im in pain and then when i get a lens that doesnt hurt i cant see a dam thing!! Who made that rule?!!!!!!!!!!!

But any replies on this with vision getting better once the lens gets settled would be nice to hear! lol! Im sure that it will be all ok, i have faith. Just sometimes i need to leave here and shout about it!!!!!!!!!!

I know when I had my lenses fitted, it had to be moulded to fit the graft which was one shape and then another part moulded to fix the KC in old cornea. The optom said it was like making a single lens to fit two eyes and he had to do this twice due the the big difference between left and right. My eyes do not fit the charts.

He warned me that fitting can be an educated guess. This is because although they can diagnose the shape of the eye and select a lens that fits, we all react differntly. SOme peoples eyes water prefusly which affects what you can see, others have their eyes dry up so giving a differnet perspective. This then of course causes problems when we lok at the eye chart as we say what we can see and the lenses the put in front of us are compensating for the stress ou eyes are under at that moment in time. My optom told me that once he had got me seeing as best as I could and the fact my eyes were watering so much, he backed the prescription off a bit. For me, this meant that when I got my lenses I was disappointed at what I could see, but he reminded me as to why and reiterated that as I get used to the lens I may see more or less depending how I adapted. The Rose K also puts pressure ion the cone to re-shape it. Well to cut a long story short, my sight did improve as the wear time built up and I actually see more than I did when the original fitting was done. I had a good optom that would see me and then ask if I was OK to wait in the waiting room with the lens to let it settle while he saw to the other patients. This meant I could be in hospital for the best part of the day, but meant I had one to one consultation for a good couple of hours rather than the ten minutes your here so much about.

Hang in there girl, PLEASE DO NOT RUSH THE LENS WEAR TIME. After three months off last year, health is far more important than work.

Id also say DONT DRIVE if you can only see two lines down......I know this is not what you wanted to hear but god forbid you had an accident on the Motorway etc you can end up being liable for alot of stuff!...and be sued for a lot of money!..even though the insurance would pay it!...unles it was a persona case!...............dont risk this! wait till your eyes get better than drive................or you may end up regretting it severely.............I mean you had a nasty accident whist walking!?!....hate to see what can happen whils driving!

I agree Jayuk, your putting yourself and others at risk. . no offence to sweet, Im sure your a good driver, but imagine if you run a little kid over-and the parents found out that you were driving without good vision?. .

Guys this is all true and i would be saying the same thing if i read it here too! But please give me some credit here, do you think i would really drive if i couldnt see well enough??

Sometimes a chart is not everything and vision is better or worse than that. Seriously i work in A and E, do you not think i see enough RTA's not to think twice?!! Just because i missed one letter on the third line, (which technically makes it 3-1) does not mean that i cannot see a car coming towards me or someone running out in front of me.

And if you really knew how possessive i am about my car you would know that crashing it would be the end for me. After one accident before (not vision related! lol!!) i would never risk losing it again, and while im not questioning my life here. someone elses is extremely important and i wouldnt put their lives at risk.

Please dont take me so seriously, i never am except in work! Maybe i need to stop posting it! LOL!! The thing about posting on a forum is that you never really know the context it was written in.

agreeed! ALL non-sight (no pun intended) communication fails to put the context of speech into perspective!
I'm sure sweeet knew whay she was doing... though everyones making good suggestions to keep us on the ball!

All true; I'm certainly not having a go at anyone in particular here, but the simple fact that we're having this conversation could well stop one of the many lurkers here from driving. It's all food for thought, and we're here to help everyone with KC, whether they post or not.
